Deleting Pivotal Platform from AWS

This topic describes how to delete the AWS resources associated with an Pivotal Platform deployment.

Overview

When you deploy Pivotal Platform to Amazon Web Services (AWS), you provision a set of resources. You can use the AWS console to remove an installation of all components, but retain the objects in your bucket for a future deployment.

Prerequisites

Before you can delete resources from AWS, you must have an account with access to your AWS Management Console.

Delete Resources from AWS

To delete the resources associated with Pivotal Platform from AWS:

  1. Log into the AWS Management Console.
  2. Navigate to the EC2 Dashboard. The EC2 Dashboard. A menu on the left side provides links to configuration panes for your EC2 instances. The 'Resources' pane is active.
  3. Select Instances from the menu on the left side.
    1. Select Actions to open the dropdown menu.
    2. Under Instance State, select Terminate to terminate all instances. In the EC2 Dashboard, the 'Instances' pane is active. The 'Actions' menu is expanded, and 'Instance State' is selected. The 'Instance State' menu is expanded, and 'Terminate' is selected.
  4. Select Load Balancers from the menu on the left side.
    1. Select Actions to open the dropdown menu.
    2. To delete all load balancers, select Delete. In the EC2 Dashboard, the 'Load Balancers' pane is active. The 'Actions' menu is expanded, and 'Delete' is selected.
  5. From the AWS Console, select RDS.
  6. Select Instances from the menu on the left side.
    1. Select Instance Actions to open the dropdown menu.
    2. To delete all RDS instances, select Delete. In the RDS Dashboard, the 'Instances' pane is active. The 'Instance Actions' menu is expanded, and 'Delete' is selected.
  7. The Delete DB Instance pane appears.
    1. Select Create final Snapshot from the dropdown.
    2. To delete the database instance, click Delete. In the RDS Dashboard, the 'Instances' pane is active. The 'Delete DB Instance' confirmation screen is shown.
  8. From the AWS Console, select VPC.
  9. Select Your VPCs from the menu on the left side.
    1. Select Actions to open the dropdown menu.
    2. To delete the VPCs, select Delete VPC. In the VPC Dashboard, the 'Your VPCs' pane is active. The 'Actions' menu is expanded, and 'Delete VPC' is selected.
  10. Select the checkbox to acknowledge that you want to delete your default VPC. Click Yes, Delete. The 'Delete VPC' confirmation dialog box is shown. At the bottom right, 'Cancel' appears in blue text, and 'Yes, Delete' appears in white text inside a blue box.
